Xbox One fans have been begging Microsoft for months to add a screenshot feature to the console. The company made it clear the screenshot feature was in the pipeline, but never gave a timeline as to when users would get the chance to give it a spin.

However, just recently the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, took to Twitter where he announced that he was at the time using the screenshot feature on his Xbox One developer kit. To us, it means the feature could make an appearance this month for beta testers then become available in the March update.

"Nice to finally be doing this on my Xbox One dev kit," Spencer tweeted.

Spencer went on to add that this feature is one of the most requested by Xbox One fans. He also claimed it is coming soon, making us fully believe fans should expect to take screenshots in March.

The PlayStation 4 had the screenshot feature since day one, so it is quite surprising it took Microsoft this long to announce it. We should also point out that this function was part of the Xbox 360's software, but so were several features missing from the Xbox One on day one.

We're not certain how many gamers will take advantage of the ability of taking screenshots with their Xbox One since the option is there to take short video clips. Chances are, only a small few will find it useful -- like video game journalists or maybe folks who want to have a scene from their favorite game as the background on their computer desktop.

The recent update to the Xbox One came out in February, and it brought to the table improvements to the controller and Game Hubs. We like the idea of the Game Hubs as it gives every video game its own profile. Players will have the option to view who on their friend list owns a particular game and all the videos about the game that are available in the community.

It's a nifty feature, and we'd love to see similar additions in the months to come.
