The new PS5 Pro patch focuses heavily on upgrading the "Cyberpunk 2077's" rendering pipeline, especially in ray tracing and global illumination. Night City now benefits from more advanced lighting behavior, with improved reflections, shadows, and environmental bounce lighting that makes dense urban areas feel more realistic and dynamic.
A key technical highlight is the use of enhanced ray-tracing structures (including BVH optimizations) combined with PSSR AI upscaling, which helps maintain sharp image quality while improving frame stability.
Multiple Graphics Modes for Different Playstyles
According to the PlayStation blog, the update introduces several optimized modes on PS5 Pro, including Ray Tracing Pro Mode, which prioritizes visual fidelity with advanced lighting effects, targeting around 30 FPS, with a 40 FPS option on VRR displays.
There's also Balanced Ray Tracing Mode, which aims for smoother gameplay around 60 FPS while retaining many visual upgrades.
Another one is the Performance Mode, which pushes frame rates higher (up to 90 FPS on supported setups) by reducing some graphical intensity.
With these options, players can have more flexibility depending on whether they prioritize cinematic visuals or smoother combat responsiveness.
Console Experience Continues to Evolve
"Cyberpunk 2077" is also available through subscription services like PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, making it widely accessible even without a separate purchase on supported platforms.
While the patch significantly improves the console version, some long-requested features, such as deeper field-of-view customization and full mod support, are still not part of the update and remain unlikely on consoles, per Kotaku.
