Google has begun rolling out its AI-powered "Try On" shopping tool in the Philippines, allowing online shoppers to virtually test how clothes fit and look on their own bodies before buying them.
The new feature lets users upload a full-length photo and see a realistic preview of themselves wearing shirts, pants, dresses, and other apparel sourced from Google's shopping listings and partner merchants.
It is accessible through Google Search and the Shopping tab, where supported product listings display a "Try it on" icon that launches the virtual fitting experience. The rollout across the Philippines will take place over the coming weeks, as Google activates the feature for more clothing categories and retailers, according to Speed.
Google's New 'Try On' Shopping Tool
Google's system uses a custom fashion-focused generative AI model that analyzes body shapes and simulates how different fabrics stretch, drape, fold, and cast shadows on each individual user.
After a shopper uploads a clear, full-body photo, the tool processes the image and overlays selected garments in about 5 to 15 seconds, generating a personalized view of the outfit. The company says the technology is designed to reduce guesswork around fit and styling when shopping online.
To use the feature, shoppers first search for clothing items on Google and look for listings that display the dedicated "Try it on" icon next to supported products.
Tapping the icon prompts them to upload a full-length photo in fitted clothing, which helps the AI accurately map garments to their frame and posture. Once the image is processed, users can switch between different sizes, colors, and styles of the same item, and compare how each option appears on their own body, Indian Express reported.
Google's AI "Try On" experience builds on earlier tests that allowed users to see clothes on a diverse range of preset models before expanding to personal photos.
By extending the tool to markets like the Philippines and neighboring countries such as Singapore, Google is bringing what it calls a fitting-room-like experience into local online shopping habits.
Letting Customers Preview Clothes
Participating merchants can link directly from these virtual try-on previews to their ecommerce sites, allowing customers to complete purchases after viewing how an item looks on them.
The technology forms part of Google's broader AI Mode shopping experience, which aims to provide more visual guidance, product information, and confidence for consumers buying clothes online.
With the new roll out, Filipino shoppers can access the same virtual try-on capabilities that were previously limited to test users in markets such as the United States.
Retail analysts note that similar tools are being deployed globally as fashion brands and marketplaces try to cut return rates and improve the accuracy of online apparel shopping, although Google has not disclosed specific targets or regional investment figures for the Philippine launch, as per Mashable.
