Surprise, surprise! It appears Sony Pictures is still moving ahead with its plans to create movies surrounding the Sinister Six and Venom despite the deal that went down with Marvel.

It was previously thought the plans for these films were thrown out the door, but apparently, such is not the case.

Variety reported that not only will Sony continue down the path of creating a movie about the Sinister Six and Venom, but that there are also plans to look into a film that features a female lead from the Spider-Man universe. We're not sure who this female hero or anti-hero is, but we should find out soon enough.

As expected, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is cancelled, and everything in that world is now dead and gone.

Things got even more interesting when Variety claimed Marvel's Kevin Feige won't have a hand in the creation of the Sinister Six and Venom. His only task with Sony Pictures will be to help with the revitalization of the Spider-Man franchise.

Feige, however, will not be paid for his work, nor will Sony Pictures get a cut from the earnings that Marvel makes from any film it creates featuring Spider-Man. Furthermore, Marvel will not gain a thing from any Spider-Man film produced by Sony Pictures.

It is indeed a unique deal, one that will benefit both studios, one more than the other. It is also a sign that Marvel could regain full creative control of Spider-Man in the future, but it all boils down to how well the Sony-produced films perform at the box office.

While everything right now seems peachy between Marvel and Sony Pictures, we expect this deal to go sour in the coming years. Bear in mind that Feige is required to lend his hand to the creation of the new Spider-Man films at Sony Pictures. Having creative minds from two different companies knocking heads and usually disagreeing ends in blood.

We expect Sony Pictures to come out on the losing end of this battle, and Spider-Man will quickly revert to Marvel. However, Disney must be willing to pay big to reclaim Marvel's most prized possession.

For now, we can only sit back and wait because it is going to be a very interesting ride.
