Remember the plans Neill Blomkamp had of an Alien film that follows the story of Ripley? Well, in the past it was thought to have been placed on the backburner, but today it appears the idea might come to fruition, or not.

Blomkamp was speaking with Uproxx in an interview where he managed to talk a lot about his plans for an Alien movie. We've seen several concept arts from the director, and they all suggest he's serious about going down this path, but everything else comes down to him finding the time.

The director revealed how the concept arts came about. He claims that they were done while he was directing Chappie. Chappie is his latest movie that is all about a robot with human-like emotions. The film looks interesting and could very well turn out to be another Blomkamp masterpiece.

Neill said he found the time to create the Alien artwork when he was not needed on the set of Chappie.

"Speaking to Sigourney Weaver, when we were doing Chappie, she set off a bunch of thoughts in my head - I had come up with an idea that didn't have Sigourney, it was a different idea. But I spent all of the shooting time with her, it was like, holy shit, that could actually be really interesting. When I came back to Vancouver, I had an entire year to work on Chappie. And when I wasn't needed in the edit, I could think about Alien. So, I basically developed an entire movie, and I did all of this artwork as well."

He then later went on to add that there's a high chance he'll bring his idea to Fox in the future to get Alien made. From what he had to say, it is clear that Fox is very much interested in visiting the Alien films again, but they would likely want to the right man to direct it, and that person is likely Blomkamp himself.

The last time we got the chance to see Ripley in action, was in the terrible Alien: Resurrection, the fourth movie in the franchise that was released back in 1997.
