Warner Bros. is finding it difficult to locate the right actor to play Rick Flag in the Aug. 5, 2016 movie, Suicide Squad. However, that might all change after reports claiming the studio is close to signing actor Joel Kinnaman.

For those who are unaware of who Joel Kinnaman is, he was the lead character in the modern RoboCop movie that came out in 2014. The film was a relative success at the box office, which could be one of the reasons why Warner is allegedly aiming to have him in Suicide Squad.

Hollywood Reporter claims Kinnaman is in early talks with Warner Bros. right now, so nothing is set in stone just yet. We're not certain how we feel about Kinnaman being the primary choice right now since we did not enjoy him in RoboCop. Don't get it twisted, RoboCop was a good film, but the main lead failed to impress.

Should he get the role, the actor is expected to work alongside Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Cara Delevingne, (Enchantress) and Jared Leto (The Joker).

Rumors claim Jesse Eisenberg could reprise his role as Lex Luthor after appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Tom Hardy was originally cast as Rick Flag, so why did he drop out?

In a press release, Warner Bros. claimed Hardy had to leave due to overlapping schedules. However, it is said that this is not the case because the true reason is due to Hardy not liking the script and the role Rick Flag would have.

Apparently, the script was still being written while Warner Bros. was out trying to find the right actors, so Hardy did not get the chance to make a strong decision.

Furthermore, many also believe Hardy left because of Will Smith. Chances are, Smith might get the majority of screen time since the actor is well known for making moves to get the leading role, best scenes, and lines. It is the reason why Smith was not picked up for Django Unchained though luckily Smith not being a part of the experience did not stop the movie from succeeding at the box office.
