Almost as soon as Jon Stewart announced that he will be leaving The Daily Show this year, our collective brains were racked to find out who would be replacing him. Many people hoped John Oliver would be the lucky chosen one. However, it looks like he'll be busy.

HBO has renewed Last Week Tonight with John Oliver for two more seasons, according to E! News. Seasons 3 and 4 will have 35 episodes each and will air some time in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

This news is bittersweet. On one hand, Oliver is doing an amazing job at the helm of his late-night HBO satirical show. The weekly format gives him the time to dive deep into a topic and give a comprehensive and witty overview instead of the few minutes Stewart gets to spend on a bit during each episode of The Daily Show. It's almost a guarantee at this point that Oliver will get at least one viral video out of each episode of Last Week Tonight, and Season 2 of the show just started.

But then again, we'd all love to see Oliver return to The Daily Show desk. Oliver was a Daily Show correspondent from 2006 to 2013. He also hosted The Daily Show during the summer of 2013 while Stewart was away directing his first feature film Rosewater. The success of that stint helped him get his Last Week Tonight gig.

This is the second bit of disappointing news Daily Show fans received this week regarding Stewart's replacement. Some fans were hoping current Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams would be the show's next host. However, she tweeted on Sunday that she will not be the next host.

But, Comedy Central apparently has a "short list" of replacements for Stewart already. All there is for us to do is wait. And get excited for more Last Week Tonight, of course.
