Björk, Björk, Björk. It's always something with this eccentric Icelandic singer. Now she's got a bone to pick with Spotify.

Björk's ninth studio album Vulnicura was released on Jan. 20, 2015. However, if you were hoping to stream the album on Spotify, you were likely disappointed. Björk has not made the album available on the music streaming service.

She told Fast Company her rationale for the move in an interview published Feb. 26:

"We're all making it up as it goes, to be honest. I would like to say there's some master plan going on [with the album release], but there isn't. But a few months ago I emailed my manager and said, "Guess what? This streaming thing just does not feel right. I don't know why, but it just seems insane.'"

The singer went on to explain why it would be "insane" to put her album on Spotify:

"To work on something for two or three years and then just, Oh, here it is for free. It's not about the money; it's about respect, you know? Respect for the craft and the amount of work you put into it. But maybe Netflix is a good model. You go first to the cinema and after a while it will come on Netflix. Maybe that's the way to go with streaming. It's first physical and then maybe you can stream it later."

Björk is the latest artist in recent months to take on the burgeoning music streaming service. Taylor Swift had a famous beef with Spotify back in early November when she pulled all of her music from the platform, including her most recent studio album 1989. Garth Brooks also took on all music streaming giants when he launched his own music streaming service called GhostTunes last fall.

Björk's comments come not long after Vulnicura was leaked just after the singer had announced the new album in a handwritten note posted on Facebook on Jan. 13. The album was originally scheduled for a March release date, but after the leak, Björk made it available on iTunes. The CD and vinyl versions of Vulnicura will still come out on the original release date.

Unfortunately for Björk, the circumstances in which Vulnicura were released kind of prove a point when it comes to releasing music today. No matter how hard you try, the Internet always wins.
