Close on the heels of Amazon offering the flagship Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone at a discounted price, U.S. carrier T-Mobile has revealed that it will be offering the device for $699.

T-Mobile is hosting a Preregistration Giveaway for prospective Samsung Galaxy S6 owners, whereby some lucky consumers can own the latest smartphone for free.

Thanks to the contest, we have also finally become aware of the price T-Mobile will be charging for the unlocked variant of the smartphone. How? T-Mobile has listed the retail value of the smartphone as $699 as such contests bind a company to declare the value of the prize being given away. It is likely that this is the price point for the 32 GB variant of the Galaxy S6 even though the carrier does not mention the storage capacity for the free device.

The previous Galaxy S line-up of smartphones from the carrier cost less in comparison, but the $699 price tag is in keeping with the leaked pricing of the smartphone in European markets. Judging by the price tag for the possible 32 GB variant of the phone, it is likely that the 64 GB and 128 GB versions will be priced at $799 and $899, respectively.

It is not known yet how much T-Mobile will charge consumers who opt for the Galaxy S6 on a contract basis. A strong possibility exists that it will charge a tad more than the $199 for a two-year contract, which is the norm.

HTC too has a giveaway for its One M9 smartphone where customers who preregister for the device have a chance to win it for free. However, the HTC One M9 terms of the contest reveal that the approximate retail value of the smartphone is $599, making it cheaper than the Galaxy S6.

Four lucky winners will get the Galaxy S6 worth $699 as the first prize, but there are other prizes up for grabs as well:

Second prize: One winner gets the Samsung Gear S worth $349.99,

Third prize: One winner gets the Galaxy Gear Circle worth $99.99.

Fourth prize: One winner gets the Galaxy Tab worth $649.92.

Fifth prize: One winner gets the Samsung Level Box Wireless speaker worth $179.99.

In addition to this there is one Grand Prize where the lucky person gets Samsung goodies worth $3,597.88.
