Video games are finally starting to move out of the cold winter doldrums and into the soft, beckoning glow of summer.

The release schedule is still a bit light during the spring, but don't worry about heading outside just yet: there are some great releases this week, and a lighter schedule means you'll more time to play them!

So, without further adieu, here are the biggest releases for the week of March 30 through April 3:

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

Release Date: March 30
Platform: PC

It's been a long time coming, but Dead or Alive 5 is finally coming to PC. Though the game was originally published back in 2012, Last Round boasts a number of enhancements, including updated visuals and special guest characters.

The lack of online functionality at launch definitely stings, but then again, there's not much in the way of choices when it comes to fighting games on PC...

Axiom Verge

Release Date: March 31
Platform: PS4, PS Vita, PC

When it comes to Metroid-vania games, most people think of the two names that inspired the genre: Nintendo's Metroid and Konami's Castlevania. Few would expect that one of the best examples of the genre would come from the mind of one man, but Axiom Verge is just that: the brainchild of Thomas Happ, who developed the game entirely on his own. You may not have heard of this one yet, but don't worry: you can just go ahead and check out our review.

MLB 15: The Show

Release Date: March 31
Platform: PS4, PS3, PS Vita

While it's true that MLB: The Show isn't technically the only baseball game available, it's usually the only one worth playing. The PlayStation-exclusive franchise returns again for MLB 15: The Show, and boasts a number of new features: most importantly, the ability to play with some of baseball's biggest legends as a part of your favorite modern-day teams. It's everything fans of MLB: The Show love, and with some shiny new PlayStation 4 graphics to boot.

Neverwinter

Release Date: March 31
Platform: Xbox One

Cryptic Studios' free-to-play MMORPG finally makes its way to the Xbox One this week. Despite sharing the name of a critically-acclaimed RPG from a few generations back, Neverwinter is its own D&D-inspired beast: the MMO follows the latest trend of a faster, more action-oriented RPG experience with an emphasis on exploration. The game's focus on companions and real-time combat sets its apart from other MMOs out there, but whether or not the game is actually playable on a Xbox One controller remains to be seen.

Story of Seasons

Release Date: March 31
Platform: 3DS

Raising and maintaining a farm might not sound like a lot of fun, but the spiritual successor to the Harvest Moon series takes the back-breaking labor of farming and turns it into child's play. It may look the same as its predecessors, but Story of Seasons is bigger than Harvest Moon in just about every way: more customization, bigger farms and StreetPass functionality are all included right out of the box. It might not be for everyone, but if you've ever loved a Harvest Moon game, you'll probably love Story of Seasons.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin

Release Date: April 1
Platform: PC

This is no April Fool's prank: Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin hits the PC nearly a week before its next-gen console counterpart. The remastered game not only boasts some hefty visual upgrades, but completely reworks the game's enemy encounters: even if you've played through Dark Souls II, there's plenty here that'll catch you off-guard. If you're not a fan of the Souls series, it probably won't change your mind, but for everyone still playing Dark Souls II, Scholar of the First Sin should be a welcome update.

It may be a bit of a light week in terms of releases, but games like Axiom Verge and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin should be more than enough to get those controllers plugged in...and, worst case scenario, you can at least use Story of Seasons to simulate some nicer weather!
