Warner Bros. is preparing to release the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer alongside the studio's first possible summer hit Mad Max: Fury Road on May 15.

According to Collider, the publication acquired the information from multiple sources. Writer Steve Weintraub says it is absolutely attached to Mad Max: Fury Road, and the reason why Warner is aiming for the May 15 release date is mainly due to Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The sure Marvel hit is hitting theaters on May 1, 2015, so by the time May 15 comes around, the film would be in the theaters for two full weeks. This would give Warner Bros. enough space to push Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice without having to worry about too much people talking about Avengers.

While many fans would love for Warner Bros. to release the trailer today, we should bear in mind that the DC Cinematic Multiverse has early come off the ground. There's only a single film in this Cinematic Multiverse, and it is called Man of Steel. Marvel has over 10 years of films, so the studio needs to be smart with its marketing.

Fans should also consider the possibilities of Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer showing alongside Avengers: Age of Ultron. That's a double whammy right there, as fans would be talking about Avengers 2, and what they have seen in the first full trailer of the new Star Wars. We doubt Warner Bros. would be interested in going up against such a titan at this stage in the game.

All said and done, things could change and Warner Bros. might just release the trailer before Avengers: Age of Ultron to get this huge bump off its back, or maybe wait until San Diego Comic Con to give fans what they have been waiting for.

At the end of the day, this is a cat and mouse game, so let the best studio win.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the second film in the DC Cinematic Multiverse, and it is set for release on March 25, 2016. The third film is set for an Aug. 5, 2015, release.
