There is a lot of excitement about the return of Gotham after a six-week hiatus, with Fox releasing promos, photos and details of upcoming episodes.

One thing we know so far: the final four episodes deal with a serial killer referred to as the Ogre. But as of yet, we still don't really know who this new villain is.

In this new sneak peek and behind-the-scenes video, we get our first good look at the Ogre, as well as what his arrival in Gotham means for detectives Gordon and Bullock. We learn that he's also called the "Don Juan Killer" because he romances pretty young single women in a strange quest to find "the one." When they don't meet his standards, he kills them. So far, he's killed dozens, possibly more.

However, the Gotham police department hasn't investigated the Ogre because they fear that he'll target women they care about. Of course, this means that Detective Gordon makes the Ogre his priority (as he likes to go against the status quo every chance he gets), which means that someone he cares about could become the Ogre's next target.

Previous sneak peeks have shown us that the Ogre chooses Barbara, Gordon's ex-girlfriend, as a target (photos have surfaced of the two kissing). Considering Barbara hasn't proven herself to be the smartest of cookies during the season, it seems that she falls for the Ogre, making it easy for her to become his willing victim.

This is a departure from the character of the Ogre in DC Comics, although the character hasn't made a lot of appearances in the books. Originally, the Ogre is Michael Adams, a man genetically-altered by a top-secret government project. His brother is a genetically altered ape. Eventually the Ogre and Ape escape the project and begin tracking down the scientists responsible for their conditions. After Ape dies, the Ogre is left alone.

However, in Batman Confidential, O.G.R.E. is something else entirely: a mechanical armour set created by Waynetech that goes out of control after its pilot dies, leaving his consciousness trapped in the machine. Batman defeats O.G.R.E. and promises to bring the pilot back to life.

Neither of these scenarios is likely in the universe of the Gotham TV series, so it's interesting that the only thing the TV character shares with the comic book character is the name. However, it is likely, that there will be another Ogre at some point, someone who takes up the name later in the series, perhaps someone with closer ties to the original comic book character.

Gotham airs Mondays on Fox.
