Best Buy is offering Motorola's Moto 360 and any Android smartphone of the customer's choice with a discount of $100 off.

The deal is available to all customers purchasing through one of Best Buy's physical locations and runs through April 18. Best Buy announced the new promo just days after Amazon cut the price of the leather Moto 360 to $179 and the steel version to $229.

Google's Play Store is also undercutting Amazon with a new announcement that it has started selling the black and stone gray leather Moto 360 for $165, though it currently does not have the steel version of the Android Wear smartwatch in stock.

The Best Buy promo threatens both Amazon and Google's deal as it slashes down the price of the Moto 360 down to $79 but only if it is purchased with another device, specifically a smartphone running on Android.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, two of the newest, most popular Android devices on the market, cost $200 and $300 respectively with a two-year contract with the customer's preferred carrier, while the HTC One M9 is at $200. Off contract, the Galaxy S6 is $700 while the Galaxy S6 Edge is $819. The HTC One M9 is slightly more expensive at $709.

Motorola is well-known for its propensity to dish out price-cutting deals on its devices; with another of its most recent ones include a free Moto Hint Bluetooth headset with the purchase of a Moto X off contract. It's not surprising that Motorola has come out with another promo for the Moto 360.

It is also possible that Motorola is attempting to empty its inventory shelves of its first-generation round-faced Android Wear smartwatch in time for re-stocking with the upcoming second-generation Moto 360. The Lenovo-owned company has yet to make an official announcement about any new versions of the smartwatch, but Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing posted last month on Weibo two photos of what looks to be the new Moto 360 and its various strap options before taking both photos down.

Additionally, the new Moto 360 promo could also be Motorola's way of getting heard amidst all the din surrounding the newly launched Apple Watch, for which nearly one million pre-orders have reportedly been made. Research firm Slice Intelligence estimates that Apple has received up to 957,000 pre-orders for the Apple Watch on Friday, the first day the new Apple device began accepting pre-orders. By comparison, Motorola, Samsung, LG, and all other Android Wear device manufacturers sold a total of 700,000 smartwatches combined, while indie startup Pebble reached the one millionth mark last year.
