For those who have been eyeing the Surface Pro 3 tablet from Microsoft, now is a good time to snag one. Best Buy is offering customers a minimum $200 trade-in value for their old tablet if they use it toward purchasing the Surface Pro 3.

This offer from the retailer is good for a limited period, which started on Sunday, April 12. Those looking to trade in their old tablet for the Surface Pro 3 have until Saturday, April 18, to do so.

The deal is pretty simple. A U.S. customer simply takes any tablet that is in working condition to Best Buy for the minimum $200 trade-in. Best Buy will give the customer a $150 coupon that is valid only for purchasing the Surface Pro 3. The retailer will also give consumers a Best Buy gift card worth $50 or more, depending on the condition of the tablet being traded in.

The coupons can only be redeemed at select Best Buy stores, and so it is best to check which locations will honor these coupons, before April 25. Moreover, some stores may have "additional limitations." The Best Buy promotion also excludes both Marketplace and Outlet items.

Additionally, the keyboard is not part of this promotion and is sold separately. Customers who are thinking of using the trade-in amount for a new Surface 3 rather than the Surface Pro 3 will be disappointed as they cannot do so.

The 64GB Surface Pro 3 with the Intel Core i3 currently retails for $799. With the trade-in worth a minimum $200 in coupons, customers can snag the same for $599 - a quarter off the price. The 128GB and 256GB Intel Core i5 models cost $999 and $1299, respectively. The 256GB and 512GB Intel Core i7 models of the Surface Pro 3 cost $1549 and $1949, respectively.

The Best Buy promotion for the Surface Pro 3 is only valid in-store and not online. To check the fine print, head to the retailer's website.

Best Buy running a promotion on the Surface Pro 3 suggests that the retailer is clearing its stock to make way for the successor of the tablet, which will launch this summer along with Windows 10.
