Today is April 20, a.k.a. 4/20, a.k.a. National Weed Day, or whatever word you use to refer to the stuff. No matter what you call today, it's an unofficial holiday that will inspire celebrations big and small throughout the United States and the world.

However, if you choose to celebrate 4/20 in the traditional way, if you know what I mean, you might not feel like leaving the comfort of your own home. You know the struggle to exert any energy beyond just sitting on your couch is very, very real. Plus, what are you going to do if you get the munchies, and there's no noms in sight? Disaster.

So maybe the best way to celebrate 4/20 is to just stay at home and log in to good, old Netflix. Let's be real. If there's any day made for just lying around and binge-watching, 4/20 is it.

Luckily, Hollywood has as much of an obsession with marijuana as those taking part in 4/20 probably do, so there have been quite a few movies made over the years that celebrate weed culture and its participants. From corrupt cats to time traveling teens to the Dude, movies show us that a lot can happen when you get high.

Here are 13 stoner movies on Netflix that you need to stream this 4/20. They're sure to make you feel good even without any supplementary activity.

1. Reefer Madness (1936)

Reefer Madness was intended as a propaganda film to dissuade youngsters from partaking in some pot when it was originall released in 1936. However, that kind of backfired, and the over-the-top nature of this film has instead made it one of the most beloved stoner movies of all time.

2. The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat (1974)

The X-rated 1972 original animated film Fritz the Cat may be more well known, but this 1974 sequel is still raunchy with an R rating. In The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat, the title feline tokes up and explores his eight other lives. Don't you want to know which one he gets the highest in?

3. Cheech & Chong’s Up in Smoke (1978)

Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke is the perfect stoner movie. In the film, these two buds search and search for the perfect pot, only to unknowingly be driving around in a van made of weed. It doesn't get much better than that.

4. 9 to 5 (1980)

9 to 5 isn't really a stoner movie, but it does have one of the best scenes involving lighting up in a film ever. After the ladies start puffing on some marijuana taken from one of their sons, they start fantasizing about getting revenge on their sexist, sleazy and snide boss. It really sets the tone and story for the rest of the movie.

5. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure has everything a stoner movie needs. Two dim-witted slacker buddies? Check. An epic adventure through the ages? You bet. A memorable catchphrase? Absolutely. Party on, dudes.

6. Clerks (1994)

Kevin Smith's characters of Jay and Silent Bob, two pot dealers, make their first appearance in this 1994 movie, but it certainly wouldn't be the last time they pop up in one of the director's films. Plus, there really isn't much of a plot to Clerks other than two convenience store employees hanging out and talking about stupid stuff during their shift, which is basically all of the stimulation you'll be able to handle on 4/20 anyway.

7. The Big Lebowski (1998)

Stoners the world over have tried, but there can only be one Dude, and Jeff Bridges' character in this Coen Brothers' cult favorite is it. If only all of your weed-fueled fantasies could be as glorious as The Big Lebowski's dream sequence. You know the one.

8. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)

Based on a book by Hunter S. Thompson, directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Johnny Depp, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas has like the trifecta of trippiness. And this is one trip you won't ever forget.

9. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)

See? I told you Jay and Silent Bob would be back. This time, they get top billing in their very own movie about destroying an upcoming movie that rips off their comic book alter egos. Well, they do what they can to stop the movie from happening because, you know, they're still stoners.

10. Super High Me (2007)

Comedian Doug Benson was inspired by Morgan Spurlock's hit 2004 documentary Super Size Me to at first cease all marijuana smoking for a month and then smoke a ton of pot for 30 days in this doc. The results are hilarious and, maybe or maybe not surprisingly, not as unhealthy as eating only fast food for the same amount of time.

11. Adventureland (2009)

Going to amusement parks is fun. Working at them, not so much. The theme park employees in Adventureland pass the time by drinking and partaking in the occasional blunt.

12. Our Idiot Brother (2011)

This 2011 star-studded comedy opens with titular characted Ned getting arrested and charged with selling drugs after agreeing to sell weed to a police officer, who wasn't even undercover. Yeah, the guy has his uniform on and everything. That should give you a hint about where the rest of this movie about Ned's relationship to his three sisters goes.

13. Kid Cannabis (2014)

If you're looking for pure, unadulterated ridiculousness in your stoner movie, look no further than Kid Cannabis, which chronicles the unlikely rise of two young marijuana kingpins. Hey, at least these stoners have some ambition.
