A word of caution to enthusiasts who like to tinker with their smartphones, avoid rooting your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. Why? Because doing so will render the key feature of the smartphones useless.

Tech Times reported recently, several major network operators in the U.S. removed features from the Galaxy S6 smartphone and now those who look to root the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge would end up removing Samsung Pay.

While rooting has certain advantages - like disabling carrier-installed/Samsung installed apps that one cannot switch off normally - according to a SamMobile report, rooting the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge will disable Samsung's mobile payment service.

"We advise you to refrain from rooting your device, as it will disable Samsung Pay, just like KNOX. When you root your device, the integrity gets breached, which is necessary for important and sensitive features like mobile payments," notes the publication.

So basically, when you root your device to omit bloatware - KNOX also gets removed, which in turn will disable Samsung Pay as the security of the same gets compromised.

For the unfamiliar, the Samsung Pay feature has been introduced in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge and is set to be released in the U.S. and Samsung's home country this summer. Samsung Pay is the company's mobile payment service which is set to rival Apple Pay.

However, unlike the latter, Samsung Pay does not require the merchants to have payment terminals that are NFC compatible. The Samsung Pay technology is also compatible with Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), which basically allows the smartphone to act like a credit or debit card in front of the regular payment machines. The user simply needs to communicate the magnetic stripe code to the machine to have the payment processed.

Another notable feature of Samsung Pay is that it deploys a user's fingerprint to authorize the payment via their smartphone at the payment gateways. The service has certifications from MasterCard and VISA and is secured thanks to Samsung KNOX.

Therefore, those looking to take advantage of Samsung Pay when it releases in the near term would do well to not root their Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.
