New reports are claiming that Star Wars: The Force Awakens could open around the world with an earning of over $500 million. This would make the film the highest-grossing opener in history, and it could go on to become the highest-grossing movie of all time.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is probably the most anticipated movie of 2015, so hitting the $500 million mark is not farfetched. When the second trailer was released, many fans were brought to tears as geeks around the world jumped for joy. Even folks who are not fans of the franchise have found themselves intrigued by what is going on.

"If it pleases the fans of the old movies and also appeals to kids, watch out," according to box-office analyst Phil Contrino.

We understand that digital consumption has allowed The Force Awakens to become more attractive than Furious 7, a film that surpassed the $1 billion mark in its first 17 days in theaters. Because of this, a company that goes by the name of Amobee Brand is projecting the movie to open worldwide at $533.2 million to $539.5 million.

What's even more interesting is the amount of theaters The Force Awakens will open in on the first day. Insiders are claiming around 4,500 locations in North America alone, so it should be clear by now that LucasFilms and Disney are working tirelessly to gain the most out of The Force Awakens, and they might very well achieve the required goal.

At the moment, The Force Awakens is trending like crazy, and not even the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer was able to soften the hype.

We are certain this film will hit the $1 billion mark quickly without breaking a sweat. It may even make the mark faster than Furious 7 because it has the whole Christmas holiday to itself, and that is the time when families come out in droves to enjoy themselves.

Furthermore, there is not a single movie coming out in January of 2016 that can compete with The Force Awakens, so if the movie turns out to be superb, then it could hit the $2 billion mark and even go on to beat Avatar and become the highest-grossing film in history.
