It's been a long time since Marvel has really tried to make an impact on the gaming industry. Ever since Sega butchered the properties during the early days of the last console generation, Marvel has kept its distance from the video game market. It's a shame, too: some of the publisher's PS2 and Original Xbox games were some of the best on the platform.

On the other hand, Telltale Games has only gotten more and more successful. The Walking Dead adaptation was the first in a string of hugely popular and successful adaptations - from the looks of things, Telltale Games isn't slowing down anytime soon.

That's what makes the partnership between the two companies so promising: Marvel has a huge list of characters to adapt, and Telltale has proven that they can do just about any property justice. Going by what's popular in Marvel's catalog and what Telltale Games has done in the past, we've come up with three possible projects that the studios might be working on:

The Avengers

This one's the no-brainer: The Avengers is Marvel's biggest product today, and making a game centered around the heroes is almost guaranteed to make boatloads of cash. While it's true that Telltale doesn't have a lot of experience when it comes to true action games, the idea of character swapping between members of the team is definitely intriguing.

Daredevil

The Netflix reboot has proved that Daredevil works best as a down-to-Earth hero - which is exactly the sort of game that Telltale can make. In fact, The Wolf Among Us is a pretty good example of what the studio could do with the license, and who knows - the game could even switch between your standard Daredevil crime-fighting and quieter, more puzzle-oriented courtroom cases.

Agents of SHIELD

If there's any team that comes closest to a project that Telltale has already made, it's the Agents of SHIELD team. Telltale has proven that tie-in games can work, and the team is known for writing some truly amazing characters. While it might not be the most action-packed adaptation, Agents of SHIELD could bring a lot of new characterization to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For Telltale Games fans, the deal with Marvel is a match made in Heaven. The publisher has a library filled with some of the best characters ever written, and Telltale has proven time and time again that it can knock comic book adaptations out of the park. With any luck, this first project is only the first of many.

Marvel and Telltale's collaboration isn't due out until 2017, but if you're interested in Telltale's current lineup, the first two episodes of both Tales of the Borderlands and its Game of Thrones adaptation are available now.
