David S. Goyer and friends are making plans to pitch the idea of Constantine season 2 to NBC. It's going to be a tough sell, but we believe the network should give it another shot, and here is why that is.

NBC is making a grave mistake by valuing Constantine based on ratings alone, but that is not enough in today's world. At the moment, comic book properties are hot on TV, and we doubt NBC would want to miss out on the fun and the amount of money that could be made from it.

Look at The CW. The network has two superhero shows running and is planning a third set in the same universe. The first two are very successful, so the chance of the third being just as or even more successful is very high.

Another reason NBC should reinstate Constantine is the network could have its own universe of DC heroes. The CW is slowly bringing to life a mini-Justice League, so it is very possible for NBC to flesh out a mini team of its own. Comic book fans know that John Constantine is a member of a team called Justice League Dark.

This particular group is a branch of the original Justice League. Its members are characters who deal in the dark arts, something the likes of The Flash or Superman are incapable of handling.

It would make perfect sense to bring this team to network television, so NBC should be a little forward-thinking and open all eyes to the possibilities.

Finally, Matt Ryan.

Come on, the actor is perfect as John Constantine. Very likable in the role, and he has, so far, garnered a small following of nerds around the world. Having a guy around with a decent amount of following is good for the show and also just as good for the network because he brings viewers who might enjoy watching shows outside of DC properties.

It's a win-win, so NBC really needs to think long and hard before saying no. Then again, in all honesty, it all comes down to how well David Goyer can pitch the idea for season 2, so everything doesn't rest solely on NBC alone.
