Imagine a platform game that uses physics to maneuver through the world. Now imagine that game requires you to jump from platform to platform and outrun evil enemies and bosses — all without an actual jump control button.

This is Tinertia, an action platformer game that depends on your own skills with physics, using an in-game rocket launcher to overcome obstacles and enemies and advance through the levels.

Tinertia promises "Quake-like fun, Sonic-like speed, and precision controls... all without a jump button." If that sounds hard, it is. The game developers, Candescent Games and Section Studios, said as much on their website:

"Prepare to die. Repeatedly. But then you'll get awesome, and that will be awesome."

So if you're looking for a challenge, this could be the game for you. Check out the trailer below:

In Tinertia, players take on the role of a rocket launcher-equipped robot named Weldon. Weldon finds himself stranded on a planet where the evil ARC thinks that he's a threat that needs to be eliminated. Weldon must use his rocket launcher to jump over obstacles, outrun his enemies and eventually find a way to escape from the planet.

Players maneuver Weldon — again, without a jump control button.

"Today's gamers want an experience that's fun to master and equally fun to stream and watch with friends," said Vilas Tewari, CEO and programmer, of Candescent Games, Inc. "With that in mind, we designed Tinertia to be a skill-based action platformer. Its mechanics are easy to pick up and a spectacle to behold in the hands of a master."

Tinertia also features more than 70 levels in seven different environments, seven major boss fights, unlockable skins, speed run and rocket challenges, ghost runs, leaderboards and a dynamic replay camera angle system.

Tinertia releases later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux. If you'd like to check out the game before then, it's available on Steam's Early Access here.
