The moment many a Mortal Kombat fan has been waiting for is finally here: Jason Voorhees, the machete-wielding horror icon from the Friday the 13th film series is arriving in Mortal Kombat X.

Jason will be available May 5 for Mortal Kombat X owners who have also purchased the game's $30 Kombat Pass, which includes all four upcoming DLC characters as well as multiple skin packs. Jason is the first of four characters that will be released post-launch. If you don't care about the three upcoming characters and simply want to buy Jason individually for $4.99, you'll have to wait until May 12.

Fans can also purchase the Horror Pack, which adds three additional skins to the game in the form of Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile and Pharoah Ermac. The skin pack will be priced at $3.99. You can buy Jason and the skin pack in a bundle for $7.99. You can see a preview of the skins at the bottom of this post.

But enough about pricing and release dates, what does Jason look like in action? In a word: brutal. You can get a good idea of some of Jason's moves, his X-Ray attack and even a glimpse at one of his fatalities in the launch trailer below.

Jason definitely means business. He shows up for battle dragging a corpse, for crying out loud! Looks like he is fond of using his machete to hack his opponents to pieces, and he also appears to have the ability to shrug off damage and knockback effects with some kind of armor ability. That sounds terrifying.

Mortal Kombat fans on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are still waiting for their chance to fight, as the last-gen version of the Mortal Kombat X was delayed and currently scheduled to release June 2. For more Mortal Kombat, be sure to check out our list of the best fatalities in Mortal Kombat history.
