Adam Levine, the Maroon 5 frontman will probably not be humming the band's hit single Sugar for some time. Why?

The song's lyrics go "Your sugar. Yes, please. Won't you come and put it down on me" and taking a cue from the lyrics, a man in his mid-30s (we're guessing not a fan of the singer) has gone right ahead and put down some sugar on Levine!

That's right. Levine was hit with a powdered sugar bomb on Monday, May 6, after performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

According to witnesses, the sugar bomb was thrown at Levine at around 8:30 p.m. as the singer and his wife were exiting the Jimmy Kimmel studio. The incident occurred in a parking lot behind the studio.

Levine was apparently greeting fans and signing autographs when the assailant hurled sugar powder on him. The sugar bomb landed on Adam's face, leaving one side of the singer's face and jacket covered in white powder. Understandably, Levine did not look too pleased.

"It looked like he wanted to fight the guy," said witness Laura Tijerina. "I think this guy had it planned. It was a brown bag with tape around it, which was weird. I just saw powder everywhere. It was just so quick."

While Levine was not injured, he along with the security and his assistant were bathed in sugar powder.

While Levine brushed off the incident, the attacker was arrested by police on suspicion of battery on the Maroon 5 frontman and four others. It is not known if the sugar bomber was a prankster or protesting on behalf of some group.

This is not the first time a celebrity has been sugar bombed by random attackers. In 2012, Kim Kardashian was flour bombed outside her hotel in West Hollywood.
