With all of the talk surrounding Mad Max: Fury Road, you may have forgotten that an open-world Mad Max video game will be driving its way to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this September.

Simply titled Mad Max, the game has been quiet for a while now, but a new trailer gives gamers an idea of what to expect later this year. Players will control Max as he navigates the apocalyptic Wasteland, battling it out with Warboys like the ones seen in Fury Road. Max is going to need his trusty car if he wants to survive this world, and players will have the opportunity to customize it with all kinds of weapons and armor.

The new game isn't based off the film, as you can probably tell. It doesn't include Tom Hardy's voice or likeness, and this video game version of the Wasteland looks a little more washed out than its bright and vibrant film counterpart.

That doesn't mean the two are completely separate, however. The game will include enemies and locations fans of the movie will notice. In the trailer below, you can hear mention of Gastown, a location from the film talked about but not fully explored. Then, of course, there are the white paint-covered Warboys and their explosive spears. It looks like Max will be fighting his way through them in his never-ending quest for survival.

Aside from a few story details, we also get a few glimpses of how the game will play. Car combat will play a major role in the title, as will hand-to-hand combat, as the trailer shows Max engaged in a number of brutal fist fights.

Fury Road's success should help out this game immensely. Whether or not the game will be any good, we'll just have to wait and see.

Mad Max is in stores Sept. 1 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
