HTC has officially unveiled the HTC One ME, adding another device to its slew of high-end smartphones the Taiwanese handset maker has launched this year.

The HTC One ME borrows a number of design elements from the recently announced One M9+ and One ME+. The new phone touts a 5.2-inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It features a combination of a polycarbonate panel and metal frames for a touch of class and is available in three colors, Meteor Grey, Gold Sepia and Rose Gold.

Under the hood, the One ME is powered by MediaTek's new 64-bit 2.2 GHz octa-core Helio X10 processor and is the first smartphone to do so, giving the world a glimpse of how MediaTek's latest and greatest processor stacks up to its competition in the real world. The Helio X10 is paired with 3 GB of RAM and built-in storage space that amounts to 32 GB, which can be expanded via a microSD slot.

The camera is 20 megapixels, equipped with 4K video recording, a feature that many Asian smartphone makers are adding to their devices, and dual LED flash. On the front, we can see the same 4MP-UltraPixel camera as seen in the One M9. It's not revolutionary as HTC claimed, but it does make for a decent selfie or video conference.

The HTC One ME also gets a fingerprint sensor, which can be used for making purchases through Alipay, China's own mobile payment system developed by Alibaba, and HTC's signature BoomSound technology with Dolby's Surround Sound that makes a better, more immersive experience out of watching videos and listening to music.

The one complaint, however, that users might have of the One ME is its 2,840mAh battery, which is certainly not diminutive, but it might not be enough for power users who need their smartphone lasting well after the regular working hours. And considering it has a big QHD display, the battery might not be enough to power all those pixels.

Still, the One ME looks to be a promising smartphone, although it will have to deal with its other One brothers as competition. For U.S. consumers who are looking to get this phone, no announcements have been made about whether HTC plans to sell it outside the Asian market. For now, the One ME is limited to China and other Asian countries for a price yet undisclosed.
