Those who backed the Pebble Time project on Kickstarter are gradually receiving the first units, but its iOS offerings are not available just yet.

For now, users can enjoy Pebble Time either with an Android device, allowing them to perform the initial setup or add watch faces, or by installing various standalone apps that don't necessarily require a companion smartphone for pairing.

Early backers who want to use Pebble Time with an iPhone, meanwhile, still have a bit of a wait ahead of them. While iOS support should have been available by now, it seems that Apple is delaying the process.

In an official update to its Kickstarter backers, Pebble apologizes for the delay and explains that it's still waiting for Apple to give the green light.

"The Pebble Time iPhone app, as we've all noticed, is not yet live on the iTunes AppStore," Pebble notes in the update, as well as in emails sent to backers. "It remains 'in review.' This unexpected circumstance pains us as much it does backers with watches ready to set up. We're doing all we can to mitigate the delay and make Pebble Time Watch for iPhone available for download."

With its hands tied and pressured by this delay, Pebble also makes an appeal to its fans and backers to help it reach Apple and speed the approval process. Otherwise, backers will not be able to enjoy Pebble Time with an iPhone.

Pebble further explains that it posted the first version on May 18. A few days later, on May 22, the company decided to submit an updated version of the software, adding some bug fixes. The latter version is the one that's in review now, waiting for approval from Apple.

Feeling increasing pressure, Pebble also said it considered adding support for Pebble Time to the existing Pebble iPhone app. The app, however, is also pending at the moment, although the update contains just one bug fix. This update comes as v2.6.6 and it is still in review after "43 days and counting," according to Pebble, without the go-ahead from Apple.

It remains unclear why Apple is delaying this process, but Pebble Time backers are starting to get frustrated. Pebble doesn't note whether it received any word or explanation from Apple in regard to the delays.
