The ultimate in comfort food, movie-night-in and ball game food mashups will be making its grand U.S. debut in Pizza Hut branches all over the country on June 18. The new pepperoni and cheese pan pizza monster concoction will feature 28 bite-sized hotdogs wrapped into the crust for only $11.99.

Although the hotdog perimetered pizza has been featured in Pizza Huts in other parts of the globe, this will be the first time it will be offered in the U.S.

Rumors of the hotdog pizza were first leaked on Kotaku when a long-time employee of an Atlanta Pizza Hut branch told a writer that they received shipments for "bland sausage and mustard drizzle."

The rumor was confirmed when TheImpulsiveBuy website published a photo sent in by one of their readers of a promo poster for the new pizza.

The hotdog stuffed crust pizza has already been a hit in some Asian countries, Canada and the UK, and Pizza Hut is sure that it will be greeted with a popular reception in the U.S. as well.

Since last year, Pizza Hut has been introducing some eclectic pizza variants in order to boost sagging sales. Avid pizza consumers were treated to a palette of new pizza concoctions like Salted Pretzel, Ginger Boom Boom, Get Curried Away, and a favorite for hot and spicy lovers like myself, the Honey Sriracha pizza.

Will the new pepperoni pizza surrounded by its halo of hotdogs give the company the boost it has been looking for? It certainly is creative, and we are not ones to argue with this perfect solution to the age-old comfort food dilemma: pizza or hotdogs? Why not both!

And just like all good hotdog creations, Pizza Hut's hotdog stuffed crust pizza will come with a siding of French's mustard for dipping.
