Alfa Romeo's 4C Spider is scheduled to be available this summer in the U.S. and Canada with a starting price of $63,900 plus $1,595 delivery costs, which is around $10,000 more than its hardtop sibling, the 4C Coupe.

Even though the 4C Coupe's base price is at $53,900, both cars offer the identical 1.75-liter all-aluminum turbocharged four-cylinder mounted intercooled engine with direct-injection. Weighing 2,487 pounds or about 1,128 kilograms, the Spider is a mere 22 pounds heavier than the Coupe and that negligible difference in mass means that the performance of both cars is a close estimate of a 0 to 60 miles per hour happening within 4.1 seconds as well as their maximum speed reaching up to 160 mph.

However, the Spider covers its engine under a ventilated body panel while the Coupe utilizes a glass greenhouse. What makes the Spider structurally and visually unique to the fixed-roof variant also is its carbon fiber windshield frame along with the optional carbon fiber rear halo highlight that makes it a real eye-catcher for those searching for racing-standard material.

Partnered with a six-speed semi-automatic Alfa twin-clutch transmission (TCT), the Spider features four adjustable drive modes namely, natural, dynamic, all-weather and of course, race. Taking a look at the interior, the 4C's reasonably Spartan cabin can be tailored optionally with black leather-trimmed bucket seats that highlight the yellow accent stitching. One of the finest improvements of the 2015 4C Spider reportedly is the innovative Alpine CDE-HD149BT single-DIN CD receiver that brings better audio quality and compared to the Parrot Asteroid component, the new stereo's user-interface could be manage easily.

The 4C Spider also offers different alloy wheel designs ranging in sizes from 17 to 19 inches while the body of the car can be painted in one of the following seven hues: Rosso Competizione Tri-coat (red), Rosso Alfa (red), Basalt Gray Metallic, Madreperla White Tri-coat, White, Black and the new Giallo Prototipo (yellow).

"Spiders have always been at the very core of the 'great Alfa Romeos,' and our all-new 4C Spider builds on the brand's motorsport and technology heritage for an open-air experience that is pure driving exhilaration. The 4C Spider takes the innovation and ingenuity of the 4C and delivers an open-air experience without sacrificing any of its supercar-level performance and capability," stated Reid Bigland, head of Alfa Romeo North America branch.
