A new report claims that Samsung is planning to release its next-generation Galaxy Note 5 earlier than usual. The new phablet will reportedly be in stores by the end of August or early September in order to get a jump start on Apple's new iPhones.

There was a report in May that claimed Samsung was planning to deviate from its usual Galaxy Note launch, which traditionally takes place at IFA in September. The report suggested that Samsung was pushing up the release of the Note 5 to sometime in July in order to get a jump start on Apple's rumored iPhone 6s Plus, which is expected to be announced and go on sale in September.

Samsung's CEO, J.K. Shin, quickly denied the rumor that his company was planning to release the Galaxy Note 5 in July. He was being truthful if a new report is to be believed.

According to the report, Samsung wants to get the Galaxy Note 5 in stores by the end of August or early September at the latest. The company is reportedly making the change in release date due to not wanting to be overshadowed by Apple's upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The move would essentially give Samsung a couple weeks of a head start on Galaxy Note 5 sales and entice customers to choose Samsung's phablet over waiting for Apple to officially announce the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to ship with a quad-HD or even higher resolution Ultra HD display. The phablet is expected to be powered by a Samsung octa-core Exynos processor and get a bump up in the RAM department to 4 GB. In terms of its camera capabilities, there have been reports that the Note 5 could use a dual-rear camera setup that would allow it to have 3D-imaging features.

As always, it's best to take reports of upcoming and highly anticipated devices with a grain of salt. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new Galaxy Note 5 news.
