Every now and then, something shows up on the Internet that defies explanation. Something both insane and brilliant, at the same time. Something that makes you go, "Why would anyone do this?" as well as, "I can't believe no one's done this before now." It's the epitome of the existential explanation of because we can.

Star Wars mania may be at an all-time high. A new film starring the original trilogy's cast is coming this Christmas, there's a hugely successful animated series on Disney XD, books and video games and comic books and toys are making headlines all over the place. It's a good time to be a Star Wars fan.

All of this excitement is driving some fans to express themselves creatively. Take Marcus Rosentrater, for instance. A professional animator and filmmaker whose biggest claim to fame is animation work on the FX series Archer. He's put his skills (and hardware) to work on a pursuit that's so crazy it's genius.

We present to you Rosentrater's masterpiece, Star Wars Wars. This two-hour, twenty-two minute video is comprised of all six Star Wars movies, layered on top of one another and played simultaneously.

We have no idea what advanced, magical technique Rosentrater used to overlay these six movies together, and we don't care. We're just digging the chaotic beauty of it.

But don't ask us why.
