The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active recently launched as the more rugged version of the Galaxy S6 flagship, boasting powerful specs and dual-mode wireless charging support.

Wireless charging may not be expanding at the rate many consumers would like, but it's nonetheless growing at its own rate. While many devices still don't come with wireless charging capabilities, an increasing number of smartphones are joining the trend and offering this extra convenience, no longer requiring users to get tangled up with cables and stuck to a wall socket.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is one of the devices that offers more convenience in that regard, as it supports wireless charging just like its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge siblings. The rugged handset supports both popular charging standards — Qi and PMA.

Some reports, however, have claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active supports wireless charging only on the Qi standard, not PMA. The folks over at PocketNow have taken it upon themselves to prove that the handset is in fact compatible with dual-mode wireless charging.

To test it out, PocketNow has taken the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active on a trip to a Starbucks shop, which has Powermat (PMA) chargers embedded in the tables. Placed on a Powermat, the handset immediately started to charge via PMA, thus proving that it doesn't support only Qi wireless charging but PMA as well.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S6 Active launched as the tougher version of the Galaxy S6 flagship, aiming to provide extra durability without compromising specs. The Galaxy S6 Active is better-equipped to handle wear and tear, but it also retains the premium aspects of the standard Galaxy S6.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a q-HD resolution of 2,560 by 1,440 pixels at a 577 ppi pixel density and packs a powerful 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 processor under the hood. Other specs include 32 GB of internal storage, a 16 megapixel main camera, a 5 megapixel selfie cam and a 3,500 mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities on both the Qi and PMA standards. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active sells exclusively through AT&T.
