This is as bizarre as it gets.

The minds behind the website NBA Catwatch are ramping up their efforts, looking high and low in a ridiculously tireless online prowl for NBA players who are cat owners. And they need your help.

Although the site was started two years back, its creators seem to really be stepping up their search efforts. A look at their site on Wednesday, June 24, revealed the lengths that NBA Catwatch – equipped with its own spin of the league's logo – will go to to track down players with cats.

Logging on, we were met with the opening line, "I received a late night tip from James Michael McAdoo and a cat."

That's James Michael McAdoo the reserve power forward of the newly crowned NBA champion Golden State Warriors.

From there, the chase was on — trying to sniff out whether the tip had some substance or if it was just a rumor. NBA Catwatch searched through McAdoo's Twitter and Instagram history and pinpointed a December 2014 tweet, in which the 22-year-old player said he would definitely get a Christmas card for his cat.

With their investigative hats firmly on, NBA Catwatch came across a picture allegedly posted by University of North Carolina guard Luke Davis, a former college teammate of McAdoo. The pic was of a cat named Macy Bernard McAdoo, retweeted by Lauren McAdoo, James' wife.

Uh-huh!

But they still had to verify the account — so like any good reporter, they went straight to the source, asking Lauren if she and James owned a cat. Her response?

Mystery solved! James Michael McAdoo is indeed a cat owner! Thus far, the website has confirmed eight NBA cats (that's it?) and they're hot on the trail of twin NBA brothers Robin and Brook Lopez, thanks to a fresh lead. It's rough but necessary work that must be done.

It's like NBA Catwatch has nine lives, with the way they vigorously and (sorry) doggedly search for players with cats.

Easily... one of the strangest things we've ever seen, but more power to them. Follow them on Twitter for more.
