When it first debuted, Heroes was unlike anything else on television. It successfully transplanted the world of superhero comic books on the small screen, and the first season of the show is widely regarded as some of the best television in recent memory.

Then the second season aired — and things started to fall apart.

Some fans may claim that the following seasons saved the show somewhat, but it was clear that NBC had never expected Heroes to take off like it did, and the series suffered for it. Unlike many cancelled NBC shows, however, Heroes is getting a second chance: Heroes Reborn is being touted as a return to form for the series — a strange (yet promising) mix of reboot and sequel.

In just a few short months, Heroes Reborn will finally hit the air. Until then, fans will just have to make do with the show's first full-length trailer...

To be honest, the trailer is just as vague as the rest of NBC's marketing. While the trailer shows off its new cast of characters (and a few returning favorites), it's clear that the team behind the series wants to keep the story a secret. For the most part, that's definitely a good thing — though it would be nice to learn something, even if it's just the characters' names.

Speaking of vague marketing, NBC's official synopsis doesn't exactly pour on the details:

"The saga behind the 2006 breakout series Heroes will continue as creator Tim Kring returns to the fold and develops new layers to his original superhero concept. This highly anticipated 13-episode miniseries will reconnect with the basic elements of the show's first season where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities. This series will be preceded by a new digital series that will introduce audiences to the new characters and storylines that will take the Heroes phenomenon to new places."

All in all, the first trailer was pretty great — let's hope the series itself is just as good. Heroes Reborn is set to debut on September 24.
