OnePlus continues to slowly drop hints as to what the OnePlus 2 will be offering. In the startup's latest teaser, it revealed that its next smartphone will include a fingerprint scanner that is supposed to be easier to use than Apple's Touch ID.

Fingerprinting technology has only recently advanced to the point where its implimentation truly adds to the end user's experience, according to a blog post from OnePlus.

In the past, fingerprint readers on mobile devices have been little more than a selling point and far from a useful feature, the company stated.

"We could've done this with the One, but we felt it was better to wait," said OnePlus.

Without citing a specific source for the info, OnePlus said the average person checks his or her phone about 200 times a day. If entering a pin consumes three seconds each time, the average person spends over an hour each week punching in pin code on their mobile devices.

"On the OnePlus 2, one quick tap takes you right to your homescreen," continued OnePlus. "With the ability to store up to five fingerprint profiles, it's fast, it's safe, and it's secure. Your smartphone is your most personal device, and its security should be personal, too."

Last Week, OnePlus revealed that the upcoming OnePlus 2 will be the first smartphone to sport the newly established Type C standard for USB ports. The USB Type-C standard unifies the latest innovation made with the platform, offering the reversible connections and support for the most robust USB delivery standard: USB 3.0.

Before that, OnePlus also announced that the OnePlus 2 will include a slightly modified version of Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor. The 810, which reportedly has issues with overheating, has been given a graphite heatsink, while OnePlus' Oxygen OS has been programmed to spread workload proportionately accross the CPU's four power cores and its four economy clocks.

The OnePlus 2 has been in the making for a long time. To be quite honest, we're excited about this one, and we'll be revealing what's inside the 2 piece by piece. The 2 packs some outstanding specs that need to be powered by more than just any processor, and we couldn't be happier with the choice.

While the OnePlus 2 hasn't yet received a release date, OnePlus will unveil the smartphone in a virtual reality event on July 27.
