If you watched Microsoft's E3 press conference, you likely Xbox One looks to be borrowing a number of features from Valve's popular digital game platform Steam, including mod support and "early access."

As Microsoft looks to unify their Xbox and Windows platforms, the similarities between the Xbox and Steam will become even more apparent this month when a number of new features roll out for preview members on the Xbox on Windows 10 app.

Microsoft's Major Nelson breaks down the update in a blog post, which you can check out here. The biggest new feature is a game library built into the app. Just like Steam, Origin and other digital game platforms, now when users purchase a game from the Windows Store it will automatically add the game to their Xbox library. Users can also manually add games to their My Game collection by selecting "My Games > Add a game from your PC" to have their entire PC game library in one place.

Game hubs are also making their way to the app. This feature is similar to game hubs on Xbox One as well as on Steam, where users can view a game in the Windows Store to learn more details about it as well as find and follow other people who have played a certain game. Users will also be able to initiate streaming sessions from their Xbox One to Windows 10 PC via game hubs for Xbox One titles.

Social features like the ability to share achievements and game clips with friends via the Xbox activity feed are making their way to Windows 10 from the Xbox One as well. The Avatar portion of the app has been renamed Xbox Avatars and now allows for users to pose and snap a picture of their avatar.

Major Nelson says those interested in trying out the new features will need Windows 10 build 10158 installed on their PC, after which the Xbox on Windows 10 app should automatically update. For more Xbox news, be sure to read up on Xbox One backwards compatibility.
