If you own a ZenFone 2 and are waiting for a spiffy new OS for it, then you're in luck. Asus is gearing up to push out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the smartphone's model ZE550ML.

The software update is reportedly in final testing and has been confirmed by an Asus representative to an Asus Support app user.

ZenFone 2 ZE550ML user Indrajeet asked the Asus support rep on the dedicated app to find out when the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update would make its way to the entry-level smartphone.

"I understand you are eager to get lollipop 5.1, but it is in final testing soon we will get the date of release then we can tell you the exact date," replied the Asus Support staff.

The screenshot of the conversation has been posted on the Asus ZenTalk forum online and validates the interaction.

The Asus representative, however, did not share the exact date when the update would be pushed out, and merely said that they did not have "official information [on the] release date."

Asus has already updated its ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5, and ZenFone 6 smartphones—albeit after a lengthy wait—with Android 5.0 Lollipop, and it seems that the ZenFone 2 ZE550ML is set to follow suit with the newer Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The flagship Asus ZenFone 2 ZE550ML smartphone from the company is currently on Android 5.0 Lollipop and houses Intel's quad-core Atom Z3560 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, as well as 2GB of RAM.

The ZenFone 2 ZE550ML sports a 5.5-inch IPS screen with 720p resolution and Gorilla Glass 3. It also boasts 13MP and 5MP primary and secondary cameras, respectively. The smartphone also has 16GB of on-board memory with the option to expand the same up to 64GB via a microSD card. The device also supports Bluetooth 4/0, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi and packs in a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery.

It is not known when the OTA update will be pushed out for the ZenFone 2 ZE550ML so one will need to keep checking for the same. There is no word on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML either.
