Captain Kirk was rarely seen without his Communicator on the original Star Trek TV series. He usually used the walkie-talkie-like device to notify Scotty to beam himself back up onto the Enterprise, which didn't always work out as planned and often caused a lot of drama, as you can probably imagine.

Now that cell phones are ubiquitous these days, the Communicator might not seem as futuristic as it did in the 1960s. However, that doesn't necessarily mean fans would be any less eager to get their hands on one of these devices if they just so happened to become available in real life.

Well, Star Trek fans, today is your lucky day, because a real working Communicator will make its debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, Mashable first reported. The Wand Company has created an exact replica of the device that can actually be used to make and receive calls when connected to a Bluetooth-enabled phone. Beam that up, Scotty.

This replica can also be used as a speaker to play music from a phone or MP3 player, so get ready to dance. The Communicator also plays sounds and conversations from the series so you can complete your best cosplay ever.

This isn't the first time the Communicator has jumped from the screen into real life. Retailers like ThinkGeek have previously sold replica Communicators that produce sound effects from Star Trek. CBS Mobile also released a Star Trek Communicator app that transforms your smartphone screen into a Communicator.

The Wand Company will reveal the Communicator at this year's San Diego Comic-Con on July 8 where attendees can take it for a spin. If you're unfortunately not able to beam yourself to the festivities in San Diego this year, you can also pre-order the Communicator, which retails for $149.95, over at the official Star Trek online store.
