Supergirl has finally gotten her own TV series, and many fans are excited while many others are a bit turned off by the first episode. However, the big question right now is how often Superman will pop up in the show.

He made appearances in the pilot episode, but not in an enormous way. We barely got to see his face, so we have no idea who the actor is. Furthermore, he didn't even utter a single line of word, which could mean the writers are holding stuff back for a while.

Well, holding stuff back for a while might not be the case since executive producer Ali Adler told Entertainment Weekly that Superman will be an unseen character throughout the series.

"Our prototype is the way the president is seen on Veep," Adler told Entertainment Weekly. "It's certainly [inspired by] so much of what Julia-Louis Dreyfus' character goes through. Ultimately, this is a show about Supergirl, and we really want to see it through her lens."

We're glad this is the case because while Superman is the most popular out of the two heroes, the story being told is about Supergirl, and she should be the main focus all the time. For decades, Superman has been at the forefront, so we do not need him to overshadow Supergirl in her own show.

Nevertheless, it is possible his appearance could help the show where viewers and ratings are concerned. We suspect if Supergirl turns out to be successful, a few seasons down the line when the writers have run out of steam, they might very well introduced Superman more prominently in the universe.

Then again, since Warner Bros. is pushing Superman in the DC Cinematic Universe with movies such as Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, we wouldn't recommend fans to hold their breath. This is a Supergirl show and we expect it to stay that way until the very end.

The Supergirl TV series officially kicks off on CBS later in the year.
