Prototype and Prototype 2 are now available on Xbox One in the new $50 Prototype Biohazard bundle, Microsoft revealed on Monday.

The Biohazard bundle includes DLC packs, namely "Chaos Creator Mode," "Colossal Mayhem Pack," "Excessive Force Pack" and more.

Publisher Activision released the first Prototype game in 2009 and, thanks to its success, developer Radical Entertainment was given the green light to create a follow-up with a sequel.

Activision wasn't happy with Prototype 2, which launched in 2012, so the publisher cannibalized Radical Entertainment and spread its might across other studios. Though Activision killed the Prototype franchise, the series was warmly received by gamers and critics alike.

The original Prototype game follows Alex Mercer, a transhuman who was genetically modified by an engineered virus.

Thanks to the evolutionary bump, Mercer has the ability to shapeshift. Mercer can also consume other beings, absorbing their memories and life force as a result, but being given superhuman abilities through the mysterious Blacklight virus has a huge downside.

Mercer suffers from memory loss so he searches for clues to his past across an open-world take on Manhattan.

The second Prototype, which was dinged in the rating for a lack of innovation, follows the storyline of another transhuman born of the Blacklight virus. While Mercer was out for answer, James Heller was out for revenge.

Both Prototype and Prototype 2 are available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PC. Knees deep in the summer slow down, the Prototype Biohazard bundle offers a bit more content for the Xbox One console ahead of the holiday season.

Similarly, Microsoft is remastering its first Gears of War to hold players over until the holidays.

The Gears of War Ultimate Edition arrives on Xbox One on Aug. 25 and launches on PC afterwards. In the spring of 2016, Microsoft will hold a beta period for the next installment in the Gears of War franchise, Gears of War 4.
