With just a few more hours left for the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter campaign, fans might not be so happy to learn that only backers who pledged $60 or more may actually get physical copies of the game.

What's more, rumor has it that the game may not be available for retail in stores when the game is launched in 2017 or 2018.

Although the game will be available for download when it is released, physical copies of the game are still being considered, according to some reports.

Ys Net shared the news in an email interview with VG247 when asked about the physical game being available after the Kickstarter campaign ends on July 17.

"Whether Shenmue 3 will be available for retail or not is currently unconfirmed," Ys Net said. It also added that any potential retail release news will be shared with Shenmue fans via the Kickstarter campaign page.

With already more than $5 million in pledges, Shenmue 3 is definitely going to become a reality. But fans will just have to wait a bit longer to find out if they can get their hands on a physical version of the game rather than just a digital download come launch time.

A bit of good news, though, regarding the Shenmue 3 developments. The original voice actors of the game series will be returning to give life to their characters.

Both Masaya Matsukaze and Corey Marshall have been signed to voice the Japanese and English versions respectively of main character, Ryo.

"Yes, it is official, Mr. Matsukaze will be reprising his role as the voice of Ryo! Yu-san said Masaya-san and Corey-san were the best fit for the respective Japanese/English voice of Ryo, and couldn't imagine any different. Big cheers to that!" the project creators wrote on the Kickstarter page.
