Expansys USA is now offering the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL and Lumia 640 for a good fraction of the price the smartphones were initially available for.

Buyers who purchase the two Windows Phone smartphones from the online retailer will need to fork out only $200 for the 5.7-inch Lumia 640 XL and only $175 for the smaller, 5-inch Lumia 640. That is a huge $90 discount for the Lumia 640 XL, which is originally priced at $290, and a considerable $35 discount for the Lumia 640.

The Microsoft phablet is available in its full of range of colors of white, orange and cyan, while its smaller brother is available in white, orange and black. The phones are compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks as well as 4G LTE, which means they can be used on any of the four biggest wireless carriers in the U.S.

For $200, customers get the Lumia 640 XL powered by a mid-range quad-core Snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM, which makes it eligible for upgrade to Windows 10 once Microsoft rolls out the new OS for mobile likely after the July 29 launch of Windows 10. The smartphone, which currently runs on Windows Phone 8.1, features a 720 x 1,280 IPS LCD display, a 13 MP rear camera equipped with Carl Zeiss optics and a 5 MP camera in front. For its price, buyers also get a good 3,000 mAh battery to last them through the entire day and even the next day for some.

Meanwhile, the Lumia 640 is very much a smaller version of the Lumia 640 XL, sporting the same Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage expandable up to 128 GB via microSD. The only two major differences between both smartphones are the size and the 8 MP camera on the Lumia 640, which is paired with a negligible 1 MP camera in front.

Obviously, the Lumia 640 XL is the better deal among the two, and in our view, it is worth paying the extra $25 to get the high-quality camera and the extra screen space. However, 5.7 inches is quite large, especially for people with small hands, and that is where the Lumia 640 keeps an edge.

Expansys has permanently dropped the price of both phones to $200 and $175 respectively, six weeks after it launched a sale on each device. For the past several weeks, Expansys says the Lumia 640 XL and Lumia 640 have been its hottest-selling products, but even so, calling them "a hot device would be an understatement," says the retailer.

You can purchase the Lumia 640 XL and Lumia 640 directly from Expansys' website.
