Asus revealed the ZenWatch 2 earlier in June and close on the heels of its release, as expected, the first-gen ZenWatch is seeing price cuts.

The rectangular-shaped ZenWatch from Asus is Android-powered and released in November 2014. At the time it was priced at $199.99; however, the original ZenWatch has now received a price cut and will cost you $129.99 on the Google Store.

So if you've been hankering for a smartwatch, now is a good time to snag the ZenWatch as you save $70 and also get free shipping.

This is not the first time the first-gen ZenWatch is receiving a price cut as we reported in end June, retailer Newegg had also discounted the smartwatch within weeks of the launch of the ZenWatch 2.

Newegg is offering the original ZenWatch for $149 which is a savings of $50, making the Google Store deal a better one. However, Newegg throws in a gift card worth $10 if you purchase the smartwatch from them during the promotion period. So, technically there is just $10 separating the Google Store and Newegg deals.

Amazon also offers a discount on the Asus smartwatch and the original ZenWatch if purchased from the e-retailer. It will set you back by $189.99, which means you save $10.

With the arrival of the ZenWatch 2, it is only natural that retailers will try to lure customers to its first-gen smartwatch and the only way to do is to offer a cheaper price.

To refresh your memory - in case you're considering acquiring the ZenWatch - the smartwatch touts a 1.6-inch 320x320 AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 4GB of storage and 512MB of RAM. The smartwatch also boasts Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which ensures that the device is rugged.

The Asus smartwatch also houses a 369 mAh battery that can support two days of use. Earlier in May this year, we reported that Asus pushed out the latest Android Wear 5.1.1 software update for its first-gen smartwatch.

The OS update brought a gamut of enhancements and new features users' way which included wrist gesture, options for font size, a new menu, Wi-Fi connectivity for compatible devices, always-on app and a usable lock screen.

Whether the Google Store sale is a limited period offer or a permanent one is not known. To snag the Asus ZenWatch for $129.99, we suggest you hurry.
