If you were disappointed when Samsung did away with the microSD card slot for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones to accommodate a sleeker form factor, there's good news: Incipio's offGRID Battery Case brings the feature back.

Incipio, synonymous with functional smartphone accessories, has come out with an offGRID Battery Case for the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6, which will not only extend the battery life of the devices but also let you expand the on-board storage capacity of the Samsung smartphones.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge house a non-removable 2,550mAh battery and 2,600mAh battery, respectively. The Incipio case offers an additional battery pack with 3,700mAh power.

The offGRID Battery Case not only works for both the Samsung smartphones, but is also reasonably sleek considering how it offers a 3,700 mAh battery.

"The offGRID Battery Case is the thinnest in its class, measuring just 9mm from the rear of the device. Its smooth chamfered edges slide easily into pockets and the soft-touch matte finish is comfortable to hold," noted Incipio.

The case can clamp easily onto the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge to boost battery power.

The microSD card can be slid easily into the battery pack on the rear of the phone as it is built into the case, allowing users to use up to 128GB on a microSD card.

The offGRID Battery Case will attach to your smartphone in two parts. One part will fit behind the smartphone and the other around the front edge. If you're worried about the case being secure, do not worry as the clips around ensure it is safely held in place.

However, if you want the case to safeguard your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge from falls, then think again since the offGRID Battery Case is okay for drops from pocket level, but beyond that, you'd be safer to have the handset insured.

Moreover, if your phone falls face down, then you're in trouble as the casing only secures the edges and does not protect the front.

For those thinking about losing their NFC payment capabilities owing to the offGRID Battery Case, worry not since the case preserves NFC communication. However, even though the case supports Qualcomm's 2.0 Fast Charging, it does not offer support for wireless charging.

The Incipio case also has a toggle on its left side, which enables users to swap between the charging and storage modes. Why Incipio decided to imbibe a toggle despite having a button for the same purpose is confounding.

The Incipio offGRID Battery Case is priced at $89.99 and is available in black. The case also comes with a USB cable, a headphone jack extension and a bumper ring for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
