It's no secret that fighting games are havens for poorly planned DLC packages – just look at Super Street Fighter IV's $20 costume packs – but so far, Mortal Kombat X has kept things relatively simple. While there are a few cosmetic options available, the main focus is on introducing new characters. New fighters are exactly what fans want, be they classic Mortal Kombat brawlers like Tanya and Tremor, or bizarre third-party guest stars like Jason and the Predator.

Sadly, the recently released Tremor was Mortal Kombat X'last DLC character. As it stands, the "Kombat Pack" is basically over and done with... or is it?

While Mortal Kombat 9 only saw one wave of downloadable fighters, it seems like NetherRealm may be gearing up to release a second wave of DLC characters for Mortal Kombat X. Given the game's success, that's not a big surprise. So what are the odds of even more characters joining the MKX roster?

As with all of its new characters, the team over at NetherRealm took to Twitch to show off its latest character, Tremor. While the information in the stream itself was par for the course, the most interesting tidbit (via IGN) came near the end: instead of the standard "Kombat Pack," Mortal Kombat X's DLC was referred to as "Kombat Pack 1."

While this may not sound all that shocking, it's the first time that NetherRealm has referred to its DLC as anything other than the "Kombat Pack." Considering the fact that director Ed Boon has dropped numerous hints about a certain purple-clad ninja joining the roster, it's not all that crazy to think that NetherRealm is prepping a second wave of DLC.

Granted, it's possible that NetherRealm is ready to start working on whatever's next for Mortal Kombat — until the studio announces something official, there's really no telling what will happen.

For everyone still playing Mortal Kombat X, the game's latest DLC character, Tremor, is now available to download.
