South Korean technology giant Samsung is looking to make a move into the schools with the launch of its Galaxy Tab 4 Education. The move will undoubtedly pit the company against Google, which has also announced new changes to its educational platforms.

The move, which will see the first tablet aimed and designed for children in elementary and secondary school. The Galaxy Tab 4 Education, the company says, should help enable educators and students to be better equipped in the classroom to tackle learning issues.

It is a 10.1-inch tablet and boasts an integrated Google Play for Education that can be managed by teachers through a web console. The company hopes that school districts will pick up the tablet ahead of the 2014-2015 school year.

 "Samsung is committed to powering education by empowering educators, and this requires technology that is built specifically for the classroom environment," said Tod Pike, senior vice president at Samsung's Enterprise Business Division, in a statement from the company.

"This new Galaxy Tab, designed for education, is an important step toward achieving that vision as it combines the accessibility and engagement of our leading tablet devices with simple, intuitive management tools to foster a more interactive and effective learning environment."

It also comes as more and more technology companies are looking for ways of having their devices and brand inside schools. Education is quickly becoming a new market that many of the big players believe they can innovate and deliver high quality devices to students for better learning experiences.

According to Samsung, the new tablet gives teachers and others easier access to a wide number of school approved apps, books and videos, which should help the students become more excited and personalized by the learning process.

It will also be completely compatible with future upgrades of Samsung School.

"The tablet expands Samsung's lineup of Android-powered Galaxy devices and complements the company's broad portfolio of technology solutions for K-12 education. The Galaxy Tab 4 Education is now available with an MSRP of $369.99 through Samsung distribution and channel partners," Samsung's release says.

Samsung hopes that by launching the new tablet with months before the new school year begins should help teachers and those making financial decisions more equipped with better knowledge of what the South Korean company is offering.
