There have been previous reports of a redesign by Sony of its Xperia smartphones for a project codenamed Sony Lavender. It was said that the device would become the new flagship device for Sony, with leaked images showing what would be the first bezel-free smartphone of the company.

Previously thought to bear the name of Xperia T4 Ultra, it has been confirmed that the smartphone will actually be named the Xperia C5 Ultra through a leaked manual for the still unannounced device that was acquired by Xperia news website Xperia Blog.

The manual confirms the previously leaked images of the smartphone, with a frame that has no bezel on the left and right side.

The user guide also confirms that the Xperia C5 Ultra will feature a 13MP rear-facing camera. There is no information of the resolution of the front-facing camera, but rumors claim that the camera will also be sporting a 13MP sensor. The device will have a flash for both the rear-facing camera and front-facing camera.

The Xperia C5 Ultra will be powered by 2GB of RAM and will have an internal storage capacity of 16GB with expandable memory through a microSD card slot. The smartphone will support only nano SIM cards.

Other details that can be discerned from the uploaded manual for the Xperia C5 Ultra include the side volume buttons also functioning as the zoom keys while the camera is turned on and a second microphone located behind the device below the main camera lens.

Other rumored specifications for the Xperia C5 Ultra include a 5.5-inch display with a 1080p resolution with 64-bit, octa-core LTE MediaTek MT6752 chipset.

The previously leaked images of the device was uploaded by prolific leaker Upleaks, and previous reports on the smartphone have described it as a "cocktail" between a smartphone and a tablet, as opposed to calling it simply as a phablet.

Sony has not yet officially announced the smartphone and, as such, all information revealed about the device has not yet been confirmed. Other unknown details about the Xperia C5 Ultra include its price and timeframe for release.
