We've known that developer Techland has been working on new content for its zombie title Dying Light, but we haven't known what that would entail. Techland is finally opening up with details on what to expect from the game's expansion pack — and it already sounds like a great time.

For starters, the expansion is titled Dying Light: The Following. It will be available to download separately from the main game, but those who purchased Dying Light's $19.99 season pass will be able to download The Following for free. The expansion currently doesn't have a release date.

So what all is in The Following? By far the most noteworthy addition to Dying Light's open-world zombie survival formula is the vehicles. Players will be able to drive a dune buggy around, crushing zombies under the wheels in a truly gruesome fashion.

You'll need the dune buggy, too, because Techland says the new map coming in The Following is larger than "all the previous maps from Dying Light combined."

That's fantastic news for gamers. Dying Light received positive reviews and seemed to strike a chord with players when it released earlier this year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Gamers appeared to enjoy the game's satisfying first-person melee combat, open-world setting and parkour elements. It also helped that the game released at a time when not much else was coming out — giving gamers anxious for something new a solid title to enjoy in the slow months after a blockbuster-filled holiday season.

This information is all that is known about the expansion so far, but Techland says more details are to come next week during Gamescom in Germany. In the meantime, you can check out all the DLC currently available for the game, as well as the plethora of Easter eggs sprinkled throughout Dying Light's world.
