Microsoft not too long ago announced the Surface Pro 3, the company's newest addition to its line of tablets running Windows 8.1. The latest Surface Pro has shown that Microsoft has learned a lot since the Surface Pro 2 model and is working to create the perfect tablet with Windows 8.1 inside.

To say Microsoft has done a great job with the design of the Surface Pro 3 is an understatement. Who would have thought that the software company would one day possess the skills to design a product that is 9.1-mm thin, yet with a fourth-generation Core i7 processor and no fan to cool things down. Sounds crazy, right? It is, but that didn't stop Microsoft from doing it anyway.

We have no idea of another tablet or laptop, for that matter, which comes packed with a Core i7 processor without a fan. If Microsoft is able to pull this off without hiccups, then manufacturers planning to design future Windows 8.1 tablets might have a tall tree to climb.

Another interesting thing about the Surface Pro 3 is that it has beautiful 12-inch display with 2560 x 1440 resolution. Despite the larger display when compared with the Surface Pro 2, Microsoft still manages to keep the weight down. For what Microsoft is selling to consumers, it is very surprising to see the weight at 1.76 pounds.

Microsoft's plan with the Surface Pro 3 is to kill the need to have a laptop and a tablet. Users should be able to use this single device to perform all tasks, and it should also make for some good savings.

Surface Pro 3 has a cool pen that is a powerful addition to the whole package. However, the most important thing is Windows 8.1 and the apps that allow this pen to shine.
