LG is no longer trying to keep its G3 smartphone a secret. The company has posted information on its QuickCircle case, while insulting Samsung in the process.

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 in 2013, the company also introduced a new smart accessory for the handset, the Galaxy S4 S View case. The case protects the front and back of the smartphone and has a rectangular cutout that is protected by a transparent plastic, which allows users to perform different functions via the window without ever having to open the case. The case also works in a similar manner to Apple's iPad Smart Cover, which uses magnets to detect when the cover is opened or closed and turns the tablet on or off.

The case proved to be a very popular accessory for Samsung and it offered a similar case with a larger cutout for its current flagship Galaxy S5. It's no secret that Samsung and LG are very competitive and LG is planning a similar case that even offers more functionality than Samsung's S View cases.

LG has given up on even trying to keep its unannounced LG G3 smartphone under wraps, since it confirmed the handset's complete spec list in a series of internal slides. The company posted new information and a video on the G3's first accessory, which is called the QuickCircle case. It works in a similar manner as Samsung's S View but has a few extra tricks up its sleeves.

Users will be able to check the time, place calls, send text messages, take photos, listen to music and get updated health information via the circular window without ever having to open its case. The case also has built-in wireless charging support using the Qi interface standard.

"The smartphone ecosystem is constantly evolving - no longer are cases just for protection from the elements and bumps and drops," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "They're the perfect accessory to build in extra features that add more value to a mobile device. With QuickCircle Case, we've exceeded the baseline by making it customizable to better fit users' needs."

LG also threw a dig at Samsung with this line from its press release, "More stylish than traditional rectangular-windowed smartphone cases, LG's QuickCircle Case comes in five eye-catching colors: Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Aqua Mint, Indian Pink."
