If you were disappointed by the result of evangelical radio preacher Harold Camping's failed Rapture prediction in 2011, this might just be the video game for you: PlayStation has officially released the trailer for Everybody's Gone to the Rapture for PS4.

According to PlayStation's website, the game "tells the story of the inhabitants of a remote English valley who are caught up in world-shattering events beyond their control or understanding." Created by the UK games studio The Chinese Room and loosely based on Camping's wildly incorrect end times prediction, studio manager Tom Turner describes it as an "open world, story-driven mystery."

In the trailer, the protagonist of the game, Dr. Katherine Collins (voiced by Merle Dandridge from Half Life 2 and The Last of Us), introduces the premise of the game with some harrowing words: "This is Dr. Katherine Collins. I don't know if anyone will ever hear this. It's all over. I'm the only one left." Her voice-over is accompanied by 3D footage of amalgams of human-ish shaped gold dust beaming into the ether.

The trailer itself portrays the world of the video game as a juxtaposition between peaceful, pastoral English country life and the sinister forces that lurk below the surface.

"The emotion of the story is what we're really pushing to the forefront of this game," said Turner in an interview with PlayStation's social media specialist Ryan Clements. "The only fail-state of this game is if you come away from the game not caring about the people and what's happened to them."

The game will be available for purchase on Aug. 11.
