One of the most iconic trilogies over the past decade when it comes to film is director Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Trilogy.

And though most fans can watch each of the three films over and over again without getting tired of the story, some aren't too excited to see the extended version of the trilogy that is reportedly coming to theaters this October.

A report by TheOneRing.net says Fathom Events and Warner Bros. have teamed up to get the extended editions of all three films to the silver screen. The films will be shown in three nights, starting on Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. local time. The screening will also include an exclusive introduction by Jackson.

Fans will notice that the extended version of the films run anywhere from 13 minutes to a whole half hour addition from its original theatrical running times, and therein lies the problem. On one hand, it might be interesting to see what the additional scenes are, but then again, would you really want to endure the entire nine hours that try too hard to stretch out J.R.R. Tolkien's original single-book story?

Here are the running times for the extended edition of the films in case you were curious:

- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: total of 182 minutes

- The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug: total of 186 minutes

- The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies: total of 174 minutes

For those who actually want to see all three films, it is still unclear from the reports whether the films will be shown on three consecutive dates or whether it will be spread over from Oct 5 until Oct 13 as the AMC theater chain has reportedly posted The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies showing date to be on Oct. 13.

Dedicated fans of the film trilogy in the Tustin, CA area will be pleased to know that AMC is reportedly showing the extended edition of the trilogy on the following dates below:

- Oct. 5: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

- Oct 7: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

- Oct. 13: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Viewers should note that regular theater admission prices do apply.
